Alyse Nishimura is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Alyse is also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers, the Learning Disabilities Association of Halton, and The Mindfulness Halton/ Peel Professionals Group.
Alyse has over 10 years of experience working with children, teens and their families. She is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Brief Family Therapy.
Alyse completed her Bachelors of Arts (BA) at McGill University majoring in Psychology with a minor in Educational Psychology and French. Later, Alyse received her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Wilfrid Laurier University with a focus on children, youth and families.
Alyse’s vast experience with children and teens includes working and volunteering in children’s mental health agencies, hospital, schools, the youth criminal justice system, with learning disabilities, and child welfare. Alyse volunteered as a group facilitator/coordinator at the Lighthouse Centre for Grieving Children.
She has also worked and volunteered in child development internationally in Argentina, Bolivia, Israel, Kenya, Peru, and the USA.
Alyse is married and, a mother of one, she lives in Oakville with her family and dog.
